The Intergalactic Sugar club began as further work on a second album for the Magnificent Bastards project. During these sessions M. Burnard and J. Klessig began regular writing sessions. In time something unintended happened, the two of them developed their own sound. As the ‘Bastards project fizzled out, the two decided to take what they had of it and go in a new direction as a duo, rather than a lose collective of musicians. With a new plan, came a new name: The Intergalactic Sugar Club.

The Intergalactic Sugar Club began as additional work on a second album for Morey Burnard's Magnificent Bastards project. During these sessions Burnard and Josh Klessig began regularly writing together. Burnard also took on a producer role in Klessig’s solo project, The Gentleman Loser. In time something unintended happened: The two of them developed their own sound. As the ‘Bastards project fizzled out, the two decided to take what they had from it and go in a new direction as a duo, rather than just a loose collective of musicians. With a new plan came a new name: The Intergalactic Sugar Club.
